The Last 2 Brain Cells – Legosonic

(EP)

The fourteenth release in the catalog brings “Legosonic EP”, a debut of a young free-impro music duo named The Last 2 Brain Cells.

Music for “Legosonic EP” was recorded in a continuous improvisation session with no frames drawn in advance and no concrete form or structure. Nevertheless, spontaneously occurring musical textures and ideas naturally overlap with each other by constantly evolving and transforming into a musical form of microstructures. The overall soundscape created by using a modular synthesizer and a chain of guitar’s effects pedals as an instrument. The EP itself becomes a magical musical journey with different influences from music genres like Jazz, Rock, Metal, Avant-garde, and Classic.

The Last 2 Brain Cells is the initiative of two young Contemporary Music graduates from Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy. It is a unique project where both performers guitarist Klaudija Indriliūnaitė and saxophonist Matas Samulionis merge their instrument knowledge and skills into a weird atonal, electro-acoustic world.

FSS13:

Phun Thomas – Kepler

(EP)

In the thirteenth release, we deliver a categorical Techno “Kepler EP” from Phun Thomas. EP includes three original pieces of dark underground Techno music.

The first track in the pack “Gliese” opens the release with tight beats, highly energetic acidic sounds, constantly moving arpeggiated patterns, and a monotonous trippy atmosphere.

The title composition “Kepler” brings dark and raw Techno spiced with tasty industrial yet minimalistic bits.

The closing track “Ross” shows the more electrified Techno side of the release. Completely raw and dirty synths with tight rhythms build a dark and aggressive groove.

Phun Thomas’ “Kepler EP” is available in digital music stores and music streaming platforms.

Artfcl – Artificial

(Debut Album)

We are honored to deliver our already twelfth release in the label catalog and a debut album called “Artificial” from Lithuanian duo Artfcl.

Artfcl is an idea that perfectly reflects current times, where the boundary between the living and digital or electronic worlds sometimes disappears, sometimes human being becomes a machine and a machine becomes a human being. In music, the band makes sense of this not only by combining live sounds with electronics but also by aligning their roles in the flow of music. An acoustic melodic instrument can mimic electronic rhythmic elements while electronics “sing” their melody. In this way, Artfcl creates a multi-faceted and highly diverse musical language, interweaving many seemingly incompatible styles of music such as IDM, Jazz, Techno, Breaks, Avant-garde, Acid Jazz, Pop, Ambient, Alternative, Electro or Trip-Hop.

Artfcl was formed in January 2020. Created by itself, because it was time for two peers to come up with one name that unites them. Andrius Laucevičius (creator of electronic music under the pseudonym of Phun Thomas) and Matas Samulionis (out-of-frame virtuoso of harmonies and modular synthesizers, saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist) have been working purposefully for several years and in 2019 presented an electro-acoustic ballet called “Newborn”, expanding electronic music with professional ballet soloists, video projections and light art.

With the creation of “Newborn”, several conceptually unsuitable ballet pieces were born that inspired the debut album “Artificial”. Artfcl’s debut album “Artificial” consists of 16 tracks. All created by the duo themself, except “Drawn In(to) Soundscape” was edited by Marijus Adomaitis a.k.a. Ten Walls. According to the authors, efforts have been made to create the album in an extremely eclectic manner, so that neither the mood nor the musical styles nor the timbres will be repeated while listening to the album. The result is great – each track tells its own story, but at the same time complements the overall concept of the album.

“Artificial” album is available in digital music stores as well as music streaming platforms.

All tracks of the album were created and recorded by Andrius Laucevičius and Matas Samulionis at MAMA Studios, mixed and mastered by Andrius Laucevičius at MAMA Studios, except “Drawn In(to) Soundscape” was edited, mixed and mastered by Marijus Adomaitis. Wonderful album artwork by Frendako.

Artfcl – Alauda Arvensis

(Single)

The eleventh release in the catalog brings a single called “Alauda Arvensis” from Artfcl including two opposing versions.

“Alauda Arvensis” is a Latin name for the bird that first announces the coming spring in Lithuania. Though the composition delivers totally electronic sounds, the general energy of the original piece is as powerful as the news in the spring from Alauda Arvensis.

Artfcl’ remix draws ambient soundscape and deep mood. Opposing the original version with its calmness and coziness.

“Alauda Arvensis” is available in digital music stores as well as music streaming platforms.

Artfcl’s “Alauda Arvensis” is taken from their debut album “Artificial”. All tracks in the album were created and recorded by Andrius Laucevičius and Matas Samulionis at MAMA Studios, mixed and mastered by Andrius Laucevičius at MAMA Studios, except “Drawn In(to) Soundscape” was edited, mixed and mastered by Marijus Adomaitis. Artfcl – Bigger Than Us

(SIngle)

In the ninth release, we deliver a two version single from Artfcl called “Bigger Than Us”.

The original version is a breakbeat anthem, full of electro and modular synthesizers accompanied by acoustic strings. The composition tells a dramatic story of the sense of community that is “Bigger Than Us”.

Artfcl remix paints a different approach to the original version. It has a more IDM’ical resound with an ambient atmosphere.

“Bigger Than Us” is available in digital music stores as well as music streaming platforms.

An original point of view and totally different approach declares Auren in his deep and slow remix. The constantly evolving structure of the composition brings unexpected turns and drops followed by groovy patterns.

FSS7:

Artfcl – Artficial

(Single)

The seventh release in the label catalog delivers a fresh single “Artificial” and the title track from Artfcl’s upcoming album. Single contains three versions – the original version, Artfcl’s “Rethought” version, and a remix from Phun Thomas.

The original piece includes a live sax as the main idea of the composition, as well as many percussion sounds produced using extended sax techniques. Created in the sound and style of the early 90’s Funk, Acid Jazz, and Hip Hop. From the artists’ point of view, it’s jazzy instrumental Hip Hop.

Artfcl’s Rethink draws a totally different soundscape with its own attitude. Darker mood with raw and dirty synthesizer sounds creates that underground and alternative concept towards the original version.

Last but not least comes a remix from Phun Thomas. A dark-post-disco version of the original brings the arpeggiator upfront that was originally in the background and drops heavy beats for the harder groove.

Artfcl’s single “Artificial” is available in digital music stores as well as music streaming platforms.

Artfcl’s “Artificial” is taken from their debut album “Artificial”. All tracks in the album were created and recorded by Andrius Laucevičius and Matas Samulionis at MAMA Studios, mixed and mastered by Andrius Laucevičius at MAMA Studios, except “Drawn In(to) Soundscape” was edited, mixed, and mastered by Marijus Adomaitis. (EP)

In the sixth release, we deliver one of the finest electronic music creators from Vilnius – Auren, and his laid back “Hidden Notes” EP. EP contains four original musical pieces, each with its own sound combining into one lasting concept of the whole release.

“Sometimes It Hurts” is full of clicks and cuts, overdubbed with moody vocals and deep synths. The third composition

“Anything” contains a nostalgic saxophone lead and brings bright and chilly atmospheres.

Last but definitely not least track in the pack “1-1=1” delivers dark and deep dubby drops along with the funky beats and recorded soundscape sounds.

Despite the differences between the original works, they all beautifully form the overall concept of the release, which reveals and highlights the creator’s alternative approach to sound and artistic subtleties. L8M8 – Timelight

(Debut Album)

FSS Recordings aims to deliver the best conceptual electronic music as well as audiovisual releases. It’s all about technologies, acidic waves, underground sound, alternative views to electronic music, conceptual, minimal, and interdisciplinary arts. But as every good piece of art needs a good intro, we’ve decided the first release to be total Ambiental. And we’re happy to share the whole album called “Timelight” from a Lithuanian producer L8M8.

The album suggests 12 original ambient pieces of music from Ambiental synth-pop to drone music, from the cinematic atmosphere to dark ambient. The conception of the whole album lies under a minimalistic composing with an ambient music aesthetics. All album is created in all 12 tonalities. Every track is linked to different tonality and the first letters of the names describe the semitone, according to the author. The name of the album “Timelight” is combined with two obvious things that one can feel in the album: one is the tempo – it all the same in every track – 60 (or 120) bpm. That makes the album in time. Synchronised in a way. The other thing is the light that brings all the pieces into one album. Everything sounds really bright and peaceful except “Face To Face” and “Singularity” sounds dark but still peaceful. So “Timelight” means the Light of Time.

L8M8’s album “Timelight” is available in digital music stores as well as streaming platforms.
